Shipping is calculated at checkout.

Turn your ideas into a reality with the LongMill Benchtop CNC MK2

The LongMill helps you take your woodworking and fabrication to the next level. Its range of workable materials includes any species of wood, a variety of plasticssoft metals like aluminum and brass, and a variety of machinable foams and waxes for model making or metal casting.

We designed the LongMill to be the best hobby CNC router in its class, offering rigidity, and reliability. With large extruded aluminum rails, fully supported Y-axes, 1/4″ steel gantries on all axes, high power NEMA 23 motors, and high precision MG-12 type linear guides on the Z-axis, the LongMill MK2 is the most powerful CNC router in its class at its price point.

This kit comes with:

  • All rails, gantries, fasteners, lead screws, and other hardware parts to make a complete LongMill
  • All electronics, including power supply, controller, drivers, and motors
  • Assembly instructions and resources
  • Excellent lifetime technical support during the life of your ownership

Tools and supplies needed for assembly (not included in the kit) are

    • 3/4″ MDF sheet to act as a working surface
    • An electric drill or screwdriver
    • A laptop or computer
    • A router and end mills (for purchase separate on our store)

For routers, we recommend the Makita RT0700/RT0701. It’s reliable, powerful, speed-adjustable to a large range (10-30K RPM), and its uniform outer body allows for versatile z-axis mounting. We’ve been using the Makita on our CNC machines for years. The LongMill MK2 comes free as standard with a 65mm router mount, which is compatible with the Makita RT0700/RT0701 and most variations of this router design. If you wish to use a different size router or spindle, please check out the other sizes that we offer.

*Routers that we supply will be 110V only (North America). If you live in a country that uses a different voltage, please purchase a router in your region.

The LongMill comes with free software and is compatible with dozens of other paid and free software. Try our Toolchain Wizard to get a quick recommendation for software that may work best for you.

Additional information

Weight60 lbs
Dimensions8 × 10 × 41 in

For dimensioned drawings all of the machines, please download our PDF document. If you’d like to see some tables that our community members have built for their own machines, we’ve got a page on it here: Community Table Builds. If you’re looking to properly size a space to put your machine or are making a dedicated table, ensure that you leave enough room for the LongMills control box and any other peripherals that you might be using like a laptop, monitor, keyboard, etc. The control box is roughly 150mm x 280mm, has holes so that it can be easily screwed or mounted to any surface, and has a USB port on its left side which allows you to connect your computer to control the machine.

You can include add-ons to improve the functionality of the LongMill. These are all optional. For additional add-ons, please see our Add-On section of our store.

Maktia RT0701 Router

We recommend using the Makita RT0700/RT0701 router 110V with your LongMill. This router comes with speed control from 10,000 to 30,000RPM and has 1.25HP of power. This router is compatible with 1/4″ shank tooling and can be adapted to 1/8″ shank tooling using a 1/4″ to 1/8″ collet adapter.

Dust Shoe

Our Z-axis independent, magnetic dust shoe allows you to attach standard vacuum hoses to your CNC machine, allowing it to suck up dust as it’s cutting, making clean up easier and keeping dust out of the air. This dust shoe is adjustable in the Z direction, and the front bristles and vacuum hose can be easily detached to make it easy to change bits.

Touch Plate

Our 3-axis touch plate allows you to set the ‘origin’ or starting point of your cutting tool very accurately based off the surface of the material you’re going to be cutting. Place the touch plate onto the corner of the material to locate the cutting bit in both X, Y, and Z-directions to start your cutting job, or use it to set the Z-height of the tool to accomplish tool changes on more complicated projects.

End Mill Starter Set

Our End Mill Starter Set comes with a basic set of end mills to get your started for many projects you might have in mind. Each pack comes with:

LongMill MK2 Dust Shield

Prevent dust and debris from getting into your Y-axis lead screws with our dust shields designed for the LongMill MK2. Each pair of dust shields are made from formed sheet metal which are easily installed between the front and back feet of your machine using M5 hardware. Please note that the ACME lead screws and Delrin Anti-backlash nuts used on the LongMill are designed to work in dusty conditions and the dust covers are not required for general use. Please note that this dust shield only fits the LongMill MK2 30×30.

Inductive Sensors

Inductive sensors allow users to add homing and limit switch functionality to their machines. We only recommend this kit to advanced users

What materials can it cut?

The LongMill is primarily designed for cutting wood but is capable of cutting foam, plastic, and soft metals such as aluminum and brass.

Where can I buy end mills and other tooling?

End mills and bits are available on sale on our website as well as online such as Amazon and Ebay, or at your local hardware store such as Home Depot or Lee Valley.

What software can you use with the LongMill?

The LongMill is compatible with dozens of free and paid CAM software. The LongMill is compatible with standard G-code. You can check out our resources page at www.sienci.com/resources and look under the software tab. We’ll be hosting webinars and creating additional resource videos to help you learn to design and program your CNC machine.

What system requirements are there?

You can run your machine off virtually any modern laptop made in the last 5 years running Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

We’ve tested our machine with Intel Celeron and AMD Phenom processors with less than 2GB of RAM with no issues (although it is a bit slow).

For any other downloadable CAD or CAM programs that don’t run on the cloud, please check with the software creator for minimum system requirements.

What spindles or routers can I use?

While we recommend the Makita RT0701/RT0700, you can also use other trim/palm style routers. You will be able to let us know what tool you want to use and we will send you the appropriate mount.

Will there be 4th or 5th axis support?

In the immediate future, there will not be 4th or 5th axis support for the LongMill.

If you would like to implement an additional axis to your machine, we encourage users to try creating their own and sharing it with the community!

Some parts broke setting up the cnc. Replacement parts were sent at no charge. Its been over a month now and I still haven’t used it besides the surfacing. Difficult to get some guidance. Frustrating..

I am very pleased how things have progressed so far. The machine came well packaged and complete. Even a few extras that I may need down the road.

The packaging was well thought out and labeled well. I chose to follow the webpage instructions and watch the videos if more clarification was needed. I didn’t watch any of the videos. Everything went together in a logical, easy to follow way. I put it together myself.

I felt a little like Captain Kirk when I was moving the head around using a touchscreen with gSender installed.

I started off using Carbide create to cut some lines and circles to be sure everything was working. I have an engineering background (AutoCad) so I pushed my way through Fusion 360 and I haven’t looked back. Design and manufacturing in one software is the ticket. I’m finding that I can really take control of the machine and the finished product with this approach. 3D is a little ways down the road but a definite destination.

Kudos to the entire team in putting together such a great machine from start to finish.

I would be happy to answer any questions or clarify any of the above comments.

    In kind regards,
    Jeff Shackleton

Materials and machining are excellent, assembly instructions are beyond belief. Unfortunately on the day it was delivered I was in the hospital to begin cancer treatment and have barely gotten the frame assembled after a month, talk about bummed

I love it! Assembly instructions were perfect, the quality is great, and the support, AWESOME! I had some issue with software but thanks to Jason all is well 🙂

Using software is not a chore but being creative is (for me). I also bought the laser accessory but have not assembled it yet, maybe this week.

I am intrigued with the “vortex” but not sure if I need more learning 🙂
You folks are #1 in my books

I absolutely love my longmill, the machine is extremely well made and its machining speed is incredible. I’ve owned two other intro level cnc machines and only wished I had jumped in and purchased the longmill right from the start. A great high quality machine at a very good price, I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of purchasing a great cnc machine.

4.9 cause everyone needs to improve but service, parts, phone calls have been professional and curtious.
A set up jig for frame rails etc would be a nice touch.
Vectric could send a laminated icon/ user manual for off screen visual reference. All in all, I’m glad I purchased my longmill MK 2

Hi Chris Thanks for checking in on my progress. Longmill is up and running .no problems with assemble thanks to your videos and online instructions. (Thank you to Andy) . Been watching Garrett Fromme how to videos and Vcarve pro trial. My only problem was that when i ordered V-carve pro 11.5 from sinenci labs I entered the wrong e-mail which triggered the software to be sent to someone other than me. so, for months e-mailing Vcarve &Co and sinenci labs Jason Kent trying to convince them to correct my e-mail and send me a new software. I finely was able to get Vcarv&Co to send me new software .so now I’m back up and running 3 months later. By the way I’m sorry I did not introduce myself I’m 64 years old and looking forward to retirement in my new wood shop in the garage. I’m a machinist by trade so I’m looking forward to learning and using all you and your company has to offer me and the longmill mk2. p.s. congrats on your vortex rotary axis . Sincerely ray cnc brother.

I had zero experience with cnc machines. It has been a great journey building setting up, and running my longmill MK2. I needed some help along with way, reached out to technical support where I met Jason. Jason has been amazing with all his help.

The longmill MK2 was good to assemble. I used a mix of the video and the writen file to build it.

I have started making a few projects around the house for myself and my wife.

She has a million and one things she wants me to make. Now it just finding the time to make them all.

Thanks to the team at sienci labs, you have all be amazing to deal with along the way. From ordering to helping.

After much research and countless videos I chose the Longmill 48×30 and thank God I was patient in doing my research. This machine is absolutely amazing! The build quality and design are outstanding and the company support is second to none. I have several friends who intend to purchase one of their own after seeing mine in action. I will definately be directing all future purchases to Sienci from now on.

Thank you for your hard work and fantastic product!!

The machine is very well put together, for a starter into the world of cnc. My advice is to make sure that you have someone you can call on that knows machines to help you with mess-ups while building it. I am very pleased and can not wait to go deeper into this Adventure.

My first experience with a CNC machine and I feel I made the right choice. Sienci Labs is a helpful company that was very quick to respond to my inquiry. I have made several items from various 2d to 3d designs and after a short learning curve, the machine is reliable and fun to use. From routing to using the laser, I am sure it will keep me busy for years to come.

I really like the machine. I had some difficulty in getting the y axis to move in tandem with each other. It took me three assembly/disassembly tries before I got it to work. A little frustrating but necessary. It currently is working fine. Your online resources helped in working through the problems. I have the laser on and trying to learn it. I have completed a sign as a gift using the router and a Christmas ornament using the laser. Overall I am extremely happy with your products. What would be on my wish list? A more powerful laser to cut down on time. I have a full time job and can only work at night and weekends so a 10-12 hour job is tough to run. All things being taken into account, you have a great product and I am/will be recommending it to my friends and associates. I would purchase your product again.
