Description
Turn your ideas into a reality with the LongMill Benchtop CNC
The LongMill helps you take your woodworking and fabrication to the next level. Its range of workable materials include: any species of wood, a variety of plastics, soft metals like aluminum and brass, and a variety of machinable foams and waxes for model making or metal casting. Make signs, engravings, mid-size furniture, stands and shelves, wooden toys and games, guitar bodies, and much more! (see more in our Gallery)
We offer our machine because CNC technology opens up a whole new world of making capabilities, especially to those who have a limited shop environment or budget. Our goal is to empower you by giving you access to both a machine that’s capable of a wide range of projects, and by assuring you of the assistance that you’ll receive from our team as well as our ever-growing community of machine owners: many of whom started off green to the world of CNC as well but are now happy to share what they’ve learned along the way. (see our Facebook group and Forum). We provide a complete set of resources and instructions to get you on your way to running your first job on your machine.
We designed the LongMill to be the best hobby CNC router in its class, offering rigidity, and reliability, while being easy to put together. With large extruded aluminum rails, fully supported Y-axes, 1/4″ steel gantries on all axes, and high precision MG-12 type linear guides on the Z-axis, the LongMill is the most powerful CNC router in its class and price point.
Every kit comes with all the…
- Hardware, rails, lead screws, and gantries
- Control box, wires, and motors
- Instructions (downloadable from our website)
Assembly only takes a few hours and can be done with a set of wrenches, Allen keys, and a flat head screwdriver. There is absolutely no soldering. We’ve spent thousands of hours designing and testing the LongMill to ensure that this machine is easy to put together. If you can put together IKEA furniture, then putting together the LongMill will be a breeze.
What do you provide?
- Your own wasteboard/spoilboard (found at your local hardware store), this is the surface that you’ll be mounting your machine to. See the ‘Size’ tab above for more info.
- A router (purchase one from us, use one you already have, or find one at your local hardware store/online)*
For routers, we recommend the Makita RT0700/RT0701. It’s a reliable and super powerful router that we’ve been using on our CNC machines for years.
Here are some other compatible routers we recommend:
- Bosch Colt (Use with 71mm router mount, some versions may have a slightly larger 72mm diameter which may not be compatible)
- Dewalt 611 (Use with 71mm router mount)
The LongMill can accommodate bore sizes of 52, 65, 71, and 80mm, Don’t see your router listed? Let us know the diameter of your router so that we can make an adapter.
Please note that routers/spindles which are…
- Over 2.7kg/6lbs
- Wider than 80mm/3″
…may not be compatible. Please message us with your router size if you have a router that isn’t listed.
*Routers that we supply will be 110V only (North America). If you live in a country that uses a different voltage, please purchase a router in your region. LongMills will come with a power supply that supports both 110V and 220V.
The LongMill comes with free software and is compatible with dozens of other paid and free software. Try our Toolchain Wizard to get a quick recommendation for software that may work best for you.

One of the best purchases I’ve made. More than fair price. Customer support is second to none. The folks in the Sienci community have been so helpful. I’ve never used a CNC before this purchase and i love it. Now to figure out some of the more complicated software out there so i can do a little more. Thank you

Overall I’ve been very happy with my Longmill and the setup experience. The step by step video tutorials on YouTube was a great help. I would recommend for those using a Bosch Colt as a spindle to set up the mounting bracket at the lower position to maintain as much vertical range as possible, I’ve actually had to raise my spoil board to reach it with the kit 1/8″ end-mills. This is my first CNC machine and the learning curve has been steep but fun. I’ve encountered some accuracy issues but I think it might have more to do with my feeds and speeds than the machine its self. I guess time and experience will be the judge of that. Big thanks to the whole team at Sienci Labs, I’m proud to have the option to run quality Canadian made machine.

The machine is wonderful I’m very happy with the performance, especially for the price. I’m new to CNC and it was easy to get set up and start cutting. Had a slight electrical issue which was diagnosed and dealt with by the Sienci team very quickly. Would highly recommend the LongMill.

I researched a few models before deciding on the LongMill and I found the construction of the LongMill to be superior to the other brands I researched. It uses a basic construction method with heavy duty parts making the machine reliable and sturdy.
Machine assembly was a breeze after I watched the step by step videos that Sienci created.
When I did have an issue with one of the potentiometers (controls the force when driving the motors), Sience was quick to ship me a new control box with a pre-paid label to ship the old one back. Great customer service and great company to deal with.
Now that I have a CNC, I’m using it a lot more than I anticipated. It’s amazing how many projects come to life when you add a tool like this to the shop.

Overall, I love the Sienci Labs 30×30 LongMill CNC! The setup took me a full week to complete by doing a little more each day. I also had to build a bench for it to sit on which took a few more hours. The bench setup was expected. LongMill setup was tedious but thankfully Chris had very detailed videos on YouTube to help me through the process. The other challenging part is figuring out which CADCAM software to use. I found this quite frustrating as there are so many and most have a major learning curve. I settled on Easel which did come with a subscription price but allowed me to focus more on the creative side of having a CNC and less on figuring out complex software. I would recommend the LongMill to friends for sure and feel it’s a solid product with solid construction.

I knew when I ordered the cnc that it would take a few months. At first there was very little info on where my order was “ in the list”. About Nov. there was more info coming out and it gave me a better time line. By mid Dec. the info on machines completed was much better and I now had a pretty good access net of when my order would be filled. In all I was pleased with the communication that was on your feeds

I have had my Lomgmill for about a month now. It took about six hrs to assemble. The instructions were clear and the parts were all of good quality. Customer service is good and it is a treat to be dealing with fellow Canadians on a purchase! Currently I am using all one source software which is meeting current needs. Without hitting the $10000 price range, I don’t think there is a real competitor to this unit.

As a new person to cnc machining, I was impressed with design of the LongMill 30×30. It looks solid(although, I personally would use metal on front and back rails holders).
Assembly is clear and straightforward especially with video instructions provided.
It would be unfair to not mentioned great customer support. I had a small issue with locking nut. It took me one email and guys send me a replacement part.
Lastly, I can not describe the feeling when you can convert some drawings on computer to extremely detailed and precise, material part. I am having a blast! Thank you ScienciLab!

I’m extremely happy with my longmill. I bought it never having used a cnc before and was amazed at how easy it’s been to learn. I’m still learning every day but right away was able to create basic signs and begin having fun. The assembly took about 6 hours but the instructions were very easy to follow and the time flew by. The few times I’ve been stuck both Chris and Andy have been very fast to respond and have sorted out any issues there have been. I’m now onto carving 3d stl files and the machine is doing such a great job. I also just added a 7w laser to the front and for anyone buying a jtech laser the open build kit is the one that’s compatible with the longmill. I have referred many people and will continue to do so you guys are amazing and your product is truly excellent. Thank you

I would recommend this unit to any hobbyist looking to start with CNCing. It has been a VERY large learning curve for me as I just dove in head first, but the Sienci team has been willing to answer every and all calls I have made. The setup was long, but very worthwhile and easy to follow with the online videos/instructions. Furthermore, the forums have been very helpful as well. For me the machine itself has performed nicely, but I have only made a few signs in some simple barnboard/pine.

As I a first time CNC owner and small business owner I would like express my thanks to the Sienci Lab Team. The 30×30 Long Mill has met my expectations and more. It is like a second pair of hands in my shop allowing my to increase my output for customer demand….by following Chris’s You Tube instructional for assembly I was able to easily put my machine together. All the while gaining a knowledge of the intricate pieces and how they work….something you don’t get from a pre assembled machine. Design and creation was just as easy by following Andy’s You Tube tutorials which are all found on the Sienci Labs, You Tube page……they really left no stone unturned. All the information you need is available via their website from settings to FAQ. The Longmill Community continues to grow and everyone is there to help one another if you have an issue normally the responses are immediate…..Thank You Sienci Labs Team you guys are truly amazing and so is your product.

As an entry machine that is WAY cheaper then anything else out there I can say that i am very happy with my purchase. Its simple – very little to go wrong with it and the service from the fellow Canadians have been top notch.
The only issue I had was not following the instructions very well. I forgot to put a washer on a bolt and it made the delvin wheels break on me. BUT thats on me. Seeing how its a precision machine you can’t really take any shortcuts on the set up!
Another piece of advice is making your table before hand – make it bigger then you need it to be and make room for that control box.
