The AutoZero Touch Plate is Siencis revolutionary CNC touch plate design that allows for automatic zero-setting with both straight and irregularly shaped bits (v-bits, ball nose, and tapered) in all X, Y, and Z directions for a fully streamlined probing experience:
Unlike most conventional touch plates, the AutoZeros unique chamfered-edge geometry, symmetry, and tall walls means it can automatically measure and calculate the size and position of the bit you’re using very accurately. Plus, with our gSender control software users can run all functions through pre-built settings to have a seamless zeroing experience without having to mess around with custom macros.

The Autozero Touch Plate is amazing. I had another touch plate before and while it served it purpose I had to have some macros to use it and it was just a little bit more work to use it. With the AutoZero Touch Plate all that is gone and since I started using gSender and my software as well it just made sense for me to get this plate as well. I will never look back again. The fact that is can be used for V-Carve bits as well just blew me away. Good job on this. If you do not have one yet you should really go get on right now.

My auto zero touch plate took some getting used to. I had a few issues with the x and y axis not setting properly. But when I tried to make a video of what it was doing the touch plate would not duplicate the errors. So, I am now chalking it up to user error. Basically, what it was doing when I tried to zero out a ball nose or and end mill bit using the auto feature it would not touch the sides of the touch plate, but would get hung up in the curved area of the dish and that would give me and a bad zeroing.
I watched your setup video for the AZTP and discovered nothing that I was doing would make the problem, so I started using the bit size feature when zeroing and that eliminated the problem. I do not now use the auto feature for anything other than tapered bits.
One question I do have however is if I am using a .125 or .0625 endmill bit then How do I get enough depth on the bit to fit it inside the AZTP since using the auto feature does not work well when zeroing end mills? What if I were to use the tip feature on such small bits?
I am very satisfied with the Auto zero touch plate and do recommend it to anyone who wants to make zeroing out their projects easier.

I am having trouble with the touch plate. Most of the time it seems easier to zero everything out manually. I may be doing something wrong, but sometimes it works and other times the tool rapids into the side of the plate knocking if off the piece, so I don’t know. I’ll investigate further when I have time.

Hello Chris & Scienci gang,
I’m writing in response to your request for my experience so far with the Mk2 purchase. Since I’m a total newbie with this type of woodworking, but wanting very much to learn these new skills, I’m totally thrilled and yet frustrated on occasion due to the learning curve with the vectric software. I have been successful with it and the machine is fabulous. I look forward to the time when I can dedicate more time to the learning process and experiencing more creativity with it. Many of my family members and friends comment favorably on my projects so far, but I know there is much yet to learn and skill levels yet to be achieved. With your help along the way, I’m confident I will get there.
Thanks for your interest!
Ed

I like the Aurozero touch plate very much. Being able to do x,y,z together as well as individually is great. I would suggest that a plastic guard over the probe leads when not in use would be beneficial. I understand that the probe should not be activated until you access it from gSender but still believe a guard of the two ends would be helpful.

Don’t use it much since I always start jobs from the center, because every time I tried to run a job from the lower left the carves were cutting out of alignment, with what was displayed in preview, using easel so far. Also seems a bit pricey.

What a cool plate! The ability to zero all axis with one plate on your work piece is amazing. Simple to use once you get the hang of it this little device makes zeroing a snap. Well worth the little extra money.
