Lead times This product has a potentially long waitlist, relative to demand and seasonality. For more info on expected shipping and delivery times, please see our Order Status page.
Full Payment is required at time of purchase to get your order into the Queue. We ship on a first-come, first-served basis. If you choose local pick-up, you are subjected to the queue order and cannot get your machine quicker.
Power Requirements
We recommend allocating two 15A 110V/120V circuits — one for the spindle and dust collection system, the other for the machine and a computer.
The AltMill consumes 500W and runs off a 48V 10A power supply
The 1.5KW Spindle Kit consumes 1500-1600W at max load
If you live in a country with 220V/240V power you must use a transformer to convert to 110V/120V.
To solely run the machine, you need a rating above 500W
To run the machine and spindle, you need a rating of 2000W
3rd Party Spindles
I would like to source my own spindle, what should I be aware of?
For spindles 2.2KW or above, you will need to install extra 220VAC wiring
The AltMill comes with an 80mm spindle mount, we do not have larger diameter mounts at the moment
The VFDs that may work with our controller are: Huanyang v1, Huanyang P2A, Yalang YL620, H-100, and GS20, however they are not plug-and-play — read this article for further information

Still too early to tell. I haven’t gotten it working yet. Partly my issues, partly your issues. On the plus side MOST of the documentation is good. I’ve got most of it assembled. On the minus side, I don’t understand why the 3 boxes were delivered several weeks apart. UPS USA said they couldn’t help me. UPS International said they hadn’t received the third package. Sienci said I needed to be patient. I found that some of the documentation was obsolete (rail covers), while other parts (gantry lights) were written for an electrician.

Overall I am very happy with the machine. Though i am only starting to develop and run a few small projects, It is performing better than expected. Only disappointment is that I could not receive a spindle from your company mostly because I live in Canada. I Did manage to use my cdn tire Maxum 14 amp router by having the router holder machined to 88mm. So far it is working very well however a spindle would have been better.

Works great once the assembly problem was fixed. A lot quieter than my previous machine. More to learn about GSender

Previously had a DIY 4×4 machine controlled by Mach 3. I was planning on doing some upgrades to it when you announced your new offering of the AltMill MK2 2×4. From my experience with my DIY machine, I realized I rarely cut anything over 24″ high, so this smaller footprint saves me a lot of garage space. Since it has arrived, I have truly loved it. You make a great, solid machine. Keep up the good work.

I am completely satisfied with the product to date. I did set it up by myself, but it was pretty straight forward. Watching the training videos is absolutely necessary, without an accompanying manual.

Great piece of machinery. Assembly was not difficult. I do prefer the written instructions than the online one.

The Altmill looks like an impressive tool that is well-engineered and built with expectations of Professional results. However, I have been working with Customer Service since July 25 to rid the system of alarms. Customer service has been helpful, but I feel that something is not right. They either have too many people to help as beginners, or they are only restricted to one communication per day. This is not effective. I would suggest that you supply a file that works with your standard package of Altmill (size) Zero Plate, and Std. Spindle kit to get people in the right direction. I think this would significantly reduce the workload on CS and also help speed up active users, which is the end goal. The current Gsender program, in my opinion, is delivered in too generic a fashion for a beginner to grasp its strength and flexibility fully.

First a little about me worked in Engineering for 40 years recently retired and wanted to enhance my woodworking hobby I have been doing for 30+ years. I bought two other CNC’s (smaller imported ones). They were good in a sense that they got me introduced to CNC world for home use. In another sense they were a nightmare. I would get everything tuned in and you couldn’t breath on the machines or they would go out of alignment. (Tramming was a nightmare and before you think for woodworking you don’t need extreme tolerances I understand the thought process). I finally did some more research and the ALTMILL MK2 2×4 would fit in my shop and seemed to have the amount of accuracy I desired. It and Sienci Labs has not let me down. It goes together very easily was the best CNC out there for the money and what was included. I haven’t done a bunch of projects with it yet but what I have done it has performed flawlessly. There are a couple of things I wish could be refined. I wish there was more defined cable routing once the cables came out of the cable trains and from the power supply / VFD. In my shop the Controller and associated cables are in a sort of open area and I worry something (or me LOL) can hit it or pull the cables. I also wish the Controller was a box with interface connectors on the outside of the box, in place of going directly to the board connectors. Some of those cables have some weight and bulk to them and getting them in and routed and staying on can be challenging. (I know I am nit picking but I used to design interface cables for a defense contractor). Not a big deal and can be reasonably controlled with a bunch of tie wraps and hold-downs. If you are on the fence I say buy it I was looking at the xcarve pro but they were more expensive, and didn’t have all the features the Altmill has.

Assembly was straightforward (not necessarily “easy” but achievable for anyone moderately handy) and parts are obviously of high quality. Machine is remarkably rigid and flat. My biggest complaints are around cable management (it seems like there isn’t a way to have a totally neat setup around the SLB/VFD) and the fact that there’s no good way to integrate an enclosure with the included legs — consider this review more of a 4.5

I wish the legs were adjustable. I cut mine off 5″ and welded back to make clearance for other machines in shop. It also allows a sitting position with feet on floor at the machine. Much better for me. This is a great machine for an advanced hobbiest.

The machine goes together easy. Its high quality, ships well. And for a newbie in the CNC realm that’s great for me. There is a lot of information on the machine, but it is spread out over a large number of locations, youtube, the beginner resources for the altmill, and then there is different essential info in the longmill section, and more elsewhere in the instructions. So to be clear, there is no shortage of quality resources, my only suggestion for Sienci Labs would be to cultivate a single location for all necessary information for a single machine in one spot for easy of access and less confusion. Other than that, the machine is incredible, high quality, incredible value for the money and I would 100% suggest it to any friend.

Assembly was easily done following the youtube video. Packaging had very clear warnings printed on paper to look INSIDE the X gantry for parts, so that was not an issue for me. Support was very responsive in replacing a noisy motor.
Needs a better dust boot, which I think was mentioned recently (Summer 2025) that it’s under development. It’s annoying changing bits with an ER20 collet, need to move the dust shoe each time.
