We honestly couldn’t be happier with our decision to go with the Altmill. When we ordered on July 4 there was a 16 week backlog so we expected to receive our machine in October. We received our machine on August 4, which was absolutely outstanding. We did encounter some issues like 2 left side rails instead of a left and a right, and for some reason we received 5 legs for it instead of 4. We understood that with the huge ramp up of production to get the backlog down by 3 months, mistakes can happen and we reached out to customer service. The response we received was immediate and the proper side rail was shipped out the following day, arriving to us the day after that. You can ask for better service than that! I even reached out and offered to ship the extra side rail back and received a post paid label to do so. We were very grateful as we were building it that we had built our first CNC and subsequently had to break it down and rebuild it twice to replace parts (I was sure it was never going to go back together but luckily my husband had faith and it not only went back together but functioned properly). That experience was invaluable to us when building the Altmill. While we followed the instructions step by step on a large screen tv in our shop, we found in many cases the instructions were not clear, there were not adequate close-up shots of parts of the build process that would have been helpful, and we got frustrated a time or two with the process. The end result was fine, however, and we got it done. Then we ran into an issue where one Y-axis motor was running in the opposite direction of the other. I posted on a FB forum and someone said Gsender had a setting in which I could reverse the motor. I looked for it but found that there was only one Y motor setting so by reversing it, I reversed both motors and did not solve my issue. Luckily I had a stroke of genius (these are admittedly few and far between) and realized that the X motor was functioning properly and was a single motor so I swapped that for one of the Y motors, then reversed the direction in Gsender on the X motor and that was fine. The Y motors were then running backwards but in tandem at least so I reversed those and now everything runs properly. We then ran into an issue with the dust shoe that would not go together no matter how hard we tried. I took a picture and sent it to customer service and immediately a new dust shoe was shipped to us. Then, when I ordered the auto-zero touchplate, we received the touchplate but no wiring. I emailed customer service and because your system requires a picture to be included, and because I was in the house and not in the shop, I explained in my message that I was including a picture of the dust shoe that I had originally sent when we had a problem because I didn’t have another picture I could send. That resulted in you shipping me not only the wiring for the touch plate, but also another dust shoe. Clearly people are not reading the emails carefully but I now have a spare dust shoe. So the level of service is outstanding, and more than compensates for the small glitches we ran into with the parts. We have been using it for a month now and it is going to allow our business to really take off. This machine replaced a Genmitsu PROVER 6050XL which was an excellent machine on which to learn but now we are ready to take things to the next level and believe this CNC will allow us to do that. We have a woodworking business and use the CNC to cut a wide variety of trays that we sell. I may start looking into learning how to create 3D carvings also but for now we are happy with the improvements in speed and capacity that the Altmill offers over our previous machine. We have already started talking about possibly buying a second one in the near future if we need to to keep growing. We are also thrilled to have been able to support another Canadian business with this purchase. Well done Scienci Labs!

I’ve owned several CNC Routers and worked on many more over the past 30 years, most of them high speed industrial machines. I’ve also been a hobbyist woodworker for most of my life and teach CNC for Woodworking at the local college. To put it simply, the Sienci AltMill MK2 blows me away. I didn’t think it was even feasible to offer a CNC router as fast, precise and robust as this anywhere close to this price point. I’ve highly recommended it to my friends and students.

When I started I bought a millright 35xl for almost the same price and had to put it together with very small screws. Then altmill was way better and it was leveled flat and awesome too put together. If ur starting out i would recommend it if u have the space instead of a smaller machine. Because when u get started and see what a cnc can do I promise u that u will want a bigger one…

You fixed it, but my Z motor was defective.

I don’t know how you can sell this machine at this price. Huge value here.

No spindle in Canada so I bought pwn 2.2 water cooled and have to run in manual mode , G controller will not open to G sender , so i run off laptop in manual mode. Just gotta rememberto shut spindleoff beforei go to change bits, having a blast with it, asked about settings and received a message back about little to no support on 3rd party spindles from you guys, but you don’t have 1 you can sell in Canada ,

Great hobby+ CNC at a decent price and with excellent customer support. I wasn’t even looking at buying a CNC until I stumbled upon the company web site via. I liked what I saw, not only for the product, but for the company philosophy. Decided then to buy the Altmill for a winter hobby.

I am sorry that I did not reach out sooner. I did not use my machine much so far due to some circumstances. I got excellent support prior and during the assembly. The machine design is well done, and I really appreciate the overall design.

Very capable machine for its price range. What I really like is the company support. My experience has been outstanding from the people employed by Sienci. It speaks very highly of this company.
Brian (verified owner) –
Great packaging that protected the components from damage. Assembly, calibration and first use all went well. Well thought out instructions and lots of support online from Sienci forum and others like IDC woodcraft. Overall, very well done Sienci!
Daniel N. (verified owner) –
Very well engineered. Appreciate the precision of the assembly parts.

It works great right out of the box!!! Very well thought out and engineering terrific on it , quality of build first class ! Impressive equipment!! Ed
Damian (verified owner) –
This is an amazing value. It is rigid, fast, and reliable. My only knock is that the SLB could use more 2 way communication ports to make it easier to install things like 3rd party ATC’s.
James Long (verified owner) –
The router is working great

Love it

Intuitive assembly and operation. Almost “Plug and Play”

Assembly instructions a bit confusing. Between youtube and written instructions was able to figure it out.
A bit disappointed in gsender upgrade. I was able to use previous version on my 1 year old laptop. Was surprised when current version didn’t allow access to precision control due to my laptop not being full HD.
Didn’t see the warning when doing the upgrade. Now having to reconfigure my setup due to gsender software upgrade.
