The machine was easy to assemble and set up. Excellent addition to the wood shop. Glad I purchased this over the other brands I was looking at.

Really enjoying the machine. Assembly was time consuming but the resources available for assembly were very good. I had no experience with this type machine before purchasing. My main interest was detailed crib boards. I haven’t got into that yet. Making some camp site signs, Christmas candy dishes, coasters etc. The biggest learning curve was the software. Started with carbide create and ended up with purchasing the pro version. I am happy with my purchase. I haven’t had any need to contact support yet.

The LongMill MK 2.5 Beginner’s Kit is a wonderful CNC for me (and my first) on my now expanding CNC journey.

I have used CNC machines before – with a friend and recently at my local ‘Makerspace’ facility. I had good experiences with both, but because the machines weren’t mine, and I had to drive to get to them, I was limited in their use and restricted in my learning.

Now – I have my own LongMill MK 2.5, in MY shop, assembled (with the help of Sienci YouTube videos) and set up the way I choose, using tools, lights and dust collection the way I want them to be. What a treat!! And the pricing was perfect!

I have used my LongMill MK 2.5 for five or so months now, first with some small projects and now digging into a very deep project. What have I found and what have I experienced?
    – Support from Scienci Labs has been very good – at the beginning I needed a couple of fixes and more recently I have needed help with a couple of things that were just plain dumb (me) user errors. Thanks for being patient.
    – The assembly and installation videos by Chris on YouTube were excellent. These gave me a real good sense of what went into the design and build of the LongMill, helped me with ownership of what I had just accomplished, and MORE IMPORTANTLY, gave me very important insight into what I will need to do for adjustment and calibration as I use the machine more in the future.
    – The interaction of the LongMill MK 2.5 with VCarve Pro (which I also purchased through Scienci Labs at a favourable price) is tremendous. Seamless and easy.
    – gSender is remarkably simple yet complex for managing and controlling all aspects of my actual carves, even when I need to stop/restart in the middle of a project.
    – The Touch Plate is a work of art, all by itself, and in use!
    – I have purchased and used additional router bits that were well-priced, readily available and very good in use.
    – And … the BEST LITTLE THING … is the Magnetic Dust Shoe. This fits perfectly, adjusts easily and works like a damn! For those of us who loathe cleaning up after using a router, this is worth every penny.

Thinking about my experiences overall, I am impressed with what I own, how well it operates and how easy it is to use. Sienci Labs has thought about all of the pieces of the puzzle and assembled them very nicely for me.

I watch the monthly updates from Andy and see the tremendous progress being made by Sienci Labs on all of their products with backward compatibility where possible and future expandability options available to all, at reasonable prices. Veerrrrry nice – must be Canadian.

What’s next for me? A bunch of really cool projects. And then maybe more hardware. Probably the gControl Panel Computer. And, maybe the Vortex Rotary Axis. Or maybe the LaserBeam Laser System. Christmas comes each year, shortly after my Birthday.

I love walking into my shop and starting a new project. Thanks for all of this !!

.a hi e set-up ok…but fine tuning ajustment instructions at end of process were not clear.
Now the machine is locked. I have contacted your tech department via email & and a full blown tech report including 5 videos. I have gotten the reply that I should disconnect & reconnect Gsender, enter grblHAL into the Gsender firnware, then connect machine, insure E-stop button is turned clockwise and in the up position, then click on the red “unlock machine” icon.
    I relate once again:
    1) I have disconnected and reconnected Gsender and restarted my laptop each time.
    2) In Gsender firmware I have clicked the only option available.. “flash grblHAL”
    2) The green check mark indicates the machine is connected.
    3) I have insured that the E-stop button is clockwise/up position.
    The red flashing “unlock machine

Love my longmill mk2.5 30×30…Have had only minor issue with 1 wrong part shipped and was replaced without a problem. Assembly went perfectly and have had no installation issues and surfaced my spoilboard without any trouble. Have made a couple of small tray projects so far but has worked flawlessly with GSender. Excited every day to keep making more projects .

No missing parts very well packed. Fast shipping no damage. Assembly was abit of a task til I found the right assembly manual then everything clicked. Dealing with wiring was a challenging
but I solved that issue by treating it like commercial wiring job mounted under my tilt top. Squaring would be a whole lot easier with a simple Squaring jig I shared in another EM. I had only one issue the T-12 nut was bad replaced all good. I also suggested a new design for that also. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to put it though it’s paces yet, hoping soon. Overall I am pleased and looking forward to purchasing more add-on soon. Keep up the great job!

Seems to be a well made machine, though other than a few test cuts, I have not fully engaged a project as yet. Coming soon.

Thought the installation process was fine with one comment I would make. When attaching the drag chain link to the bracket attached to the to the X-Axis, I found it difficult to work that out (page 51 of the PDF)…ultimately I removed the aluminum bracket then bolted the upper Y-Axis drag chain link to it then re-installed as a component.

Other than that, things went just fine until I started the motion testing and had a Stepper motor clamp come loose…wish those were a bit more secure as to not allow slippage but I guess without stop switches it could really mess things up if the connections we too rigid.

To than end, can you tell me why stop or safety switches are not more common as a standard practice? It would seem a lot better option than having the motors grind if you try to over-advance the X or Y axis. Fingernails on a chalkboard.

Look forward to make some man glitter this weekend though so really happy with the purchase so far.

This is my first CNC and I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I’m still trying to get a better handle on the different bits and speeds but am getting better results with each project. I’m also getting ready to expand with the Laser and the Vortex. I love being in my shop now!

Hi Chris and Sienci Team. Thanks for asking about my experience and progress with the Longmill MK 2.5. I have not started using it because I had to finish other projects first. My Longmill is now set up and ready to go. Putting the CNC machine together was fun. I was impressed how well the machine was packed and that I received it in perfect shape . The instructions for building the Longmill are excellent. They are clear, and easy to follow. What’s left is to have my machine talk to my computer. I realize that CNC’ing is a new world for me and the learning may be challenging. My family and friends are excited about the possibility the machine.
    Cheers, A+

I had no experience prior to purchasing my mk 2.5 48×30. I found the documentation and youtube videos very helpful in the setup and build of the machine. However, I had to reach out to customer support(which was very responsive and appreciative) because my x axis was binding and couldn’t figure out why. I spent many hours redoing parts of the build and trying to figure out as a new person what I was doing wrong. Once I talked to support they informed me that I needed to scale back some settings in gsender and apply some lubricant to the backlash nut. I believe the main issue was the settings in gsender had to be scaled back. I have noticed many users having the exact same problem and posting on the facebook page what to do about it. Something should be sent to all mk 2.5 users upon purchase that the settings in gsender would need to be changed with the supplied router. Outside of this one issue that was resolved quickly once I contacted support, I have been having a great time making a lot of different things with my longmill. I have not upgraded to the new gsender version since my original install. I have read to many things that talk about users having issues after upgrade and reverting back to original version they had. I typically upgrade any software to stay current with versions, but have been skeptical of upgrading this software based on postings I have seen. One recommendation I would like to see(might already be available and I am not aware) is a video on taking your setup apart to replace the backlash nut. I am hearing a clicking sound when it travels the X axis and I am assuming it’s the backlash nut might need replaced? Overall, I have had a fantastic experience and made a lot of cool things I am proud of.

As an older couple we were looking for some more activity in our shop in the garage. The bride has graphic experience and I’m a fix it guy. So we have used our CNC mainly for lettering & simple designs for small Christian signs and charcuterie boards. It has been throughly enjoyable. I burned up a router early on and it was replaced promptly. Have been happy with my bit purchases etc. Thought the setup instructions were top notch. I am pleased with the product and dealings with the company – a rarity in this day & time.

Assembly and tuning of the Longmill was straightforward and I had it running quickly. This was due the videos that were created for assemby I had watched them all before receiving my Longmill and had it ready for first test run quickly. I have done some cutting boards surfaced guitar blanks for a friend along with some other items all using the items I got with beginner addon. Overall this is my first CNC and I am very happy with the way it was shipped and how it performs.

I went into this purchase trying to replicate the progress my friends had made in designing and building a CNC machine from the ground up. I took my time and built the machine in 3 days. The instructions on the website were very detailed and well laid out. Of course, there was a little bit of trial and error, but after acclimating to control software and the free CAM website they’ve provided I have been able to do everything I’ve sought to do with my machine. The design is well thought out, easy to maintain and service. Armed with the knowledge from my past experience and google, I was completing designs from my brain to the real world in only a month! Highly recommend this machine to anyone looking to dip into CNC.

The kit had everything I needed to get started. The CNC machine is built very well and the assembly instructions were easy to follow. I’ve made several signs and small projects so far with no real problems except those that were my fault like running the dust collector into a clamp and having the board move because I did not have it clamped in the right places
Overall, I am extremely happy with the Longmill! Still learning but having a great time with my new CNC. Can’t wait to get into the laser work.

New to cnc – still much to learn and progressing slowly. High quality, robust machine and components. Assembly instructions VERY good but couple elements need more information/precision (have submitted specific comments on relevant pages). Customer Service has been excellent! Planning to do some hobby wood carving.

I love the longmill 2.5, the assembly was easy, I can’t wait to buy another one, it’s an easy tool to use, patience is key if you’re new to CNC like me. Lots of information online and tutorials. It’s exceptional value for money, putting it together yourself gives you such a Hugh advantage for understanding maintenance. I’m trying all sorts of products for the upcoming Festive season, chopping boards, bottle top openers, heart shaped bowls to name a few, planning on learning 3D relief work in the new year. I had a few delays with the import process in France. It only took 3 days for the machine to get from Canada to France ! Best decision I’ve made for adding value and productivity to my business, it really is like having another employee without the costs of holiday pay, sick pay blah blah blah. Thank you for making the CNC so affordable and easy to use.

We love the set up and the machine itself. We have had a few issues with the machine bogging down on the x-axis with rapid movements or in the middle of a cut. We thought we had corrected this after finding a post about changing the speeds. It worked great for a while after those adjustments but it has started to do it again and the settings have not been changed again. We have not had a chance to investigate this further. The forum is very helpful for tips and tricks so hopefully it will help us determine the cause.
