I’ve enjoyed using this machine a lot, but cannot get rid of the clicking and vibration on the Y axis when moving the gantry. I’ve tried several things, including raising realigning and adjusting doesn’t affect the quality of the work, but just makes a lot of noise. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The machine is well designed, well built, and sturdy. Assembly is intuitive and relatively easy for anyone with any mechanical experience. My only significant complaint is that a linear bearing slid off the rail during assembly. The possibility is identified in the well made video instructions but it appears that a more substantial method of securing the bearings to prevent this scenario should be implemented. You should also emphasize the need to calibrate the stepper motors and make this step part of the assembly/startup sequence.

Love the machine. It’s very well-made. I did have a couple assembly issues.
The X drag chain should not be stored in the extruded aluminum. If you plan to continue to do that, you need to tie a string and tag it, so somebody pulls that out. Additionally dip switches on steppers for the X & Y were not set to the correct position.

This is an awesome awesome machine. I have used it on several occasions and it continue to amaze me. I have sold my expansive CNC which continued to have problems. My biggest concern was having to put this thing together. Best set of instruction and video I have ever seen. As the machine started coming together, my confidence got stronger. This is great, because if you guys send a part that needs changing, I know the machine. A five plus rating on installation. I plan to make signs, plaques, awards, company logo on clocks.

This is my 3rd cnc. My first one was a Gerber Saber 4×8 then a Shark 520. Let’s not go there. I am so very happy with this machine! Assembly was very easy. Everything fit perfectly. The videos, the instructions are all put together so well and easy to follow. The accuracy is right on. I did not have to adjust anything after assembly. The speed of this machine is scary fast if you want it to go fast. If you want my honest opinion I would have easily paid $1000 more for it. Just can’t say enough good about the Altmill.

Machine is as expected and easy to set up. Getting up and running was simple with the instructions being clear and easy to understand. Having built several CNC machines prior, the process was more detailed with instruction and reference material for the altmill than the other machines built prior.

One item I would look into correcting is exposed electrical 120VAC on the terminal block outside of the controller. I have put electrical tape over this to prevent any inadvertent contact. Review this for the next revision. NFPA Article 406.7 (A) 2014 Code. Great machine overall!! Well packaged and directions were well put together. Throw in some 6″ “Black” wire cable ties in the kit for cable management. Great added perk.

This machine is literally a beast! It’s fast, accurate and very rigid especially after adding weight to the table legs via shelving etc.
It’s easy to build with the instruction videos online, I built this machine all by myself over the weekend, everything is plug and play ready to go out of the box after you break in the Spindle. I was trying to decide between this and the onefinity and I went with this because the altmill offered way more for the price. I Would 1000% recommend this especially for the price compared to other similarly sized competitors on the market today.

Had some issues with the wiring and throwing codes. Finally figured out after replacing the wiring harness I had a bad motor and was sent a replacement. Works great now. This machine is a beast!

I am impressed with the quality of the entire materials list. I followed the guidance of the video instruction and the list I printed out from the app listing. Sometimes the video went by pretty fast for my comprehension. I had the most trouble at the end putting the cables into the dragrails, particularly the Y rail contents with the crossover from the X rail. One thing that can be improved is contact to a live agent with questions from a beginner. I found I could go to Garrett Fromme with IDC with a few questions. When I was really stumped I looked between the written and video several times. Fortunately I figured out the dragrail routing of parts at the end. –My experience was a little unique in that did not have a good shop space to put the machine, I had a room barely big enough but is intended to be my training room to get acquainted. The room is 10×12 I had to make alot of repairs and finishing before I could work the assembly. I worked through passing of my wife and finishing the room. I had months with the boxes unopened in the house to complete the room. I must say that the Altmill itself came very quickly for me, but some of the extra parts, ( spindle and computer were slower to arrive.) It was ok as I was preparing the room and floor before my assembly. My greatest suggestion is provide a contact for personal questions easy to access for help.
One thing I misunderstood, but was my problem from the beginning was noting what is front and back of the machine. You answered well, I misinterpreted. You stated the one end with two holes the other with 4 holes, I looked for the holes then found it was the physical “blocks” that made the difference. I did have to take apart some of my assembly to get back on track in the right order.
The machine is well thought out and well designed. That is why I bought it to meet my plans. For the moment the packing boxes are serving for a temporary table for parts laid out. I am planning to put a vacuum unit outside the room to save space, noise and dust for the unit.
