Can I add a 4th axis to the LongMill?

Currently, we do not have our own 4th axis add-on, nor have we tested any aftermarket 4th axis devices for the LongMill. We do not provide support or documentation for adding a 4th axis to the LongMill, and our control systems only work for 3 axis movement (X, Y, and Z).

If you do decide to create or purchase something on your own, it is possible to have a rotary axis via 2+1 control. If you position the machine over the centerline of the rotary axis, then lock the y-axis, and switch the motor cable over to the rotary axis, then it essentially acts as a rotating y-axis.
